Troubleshooting

The hotkey doesn't do anything

Another app may already use Ctrl+Alt+P. Open PointerStick from the system tray, go to the Locker, and pick a different hotkey. Also make sure PointerStick is running (look for its tray icon).

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

That's Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, which flags new apps until they build a reputation. Click More info, then Run anyway. Only run copies downloaded from pointerstick.com.

Premium isn't unlocking

In the app, open the Locker, choose Upgrade, then I have a key, and paste the key from your purchase. The app needs internet access the first time it checks the key. Keys look like PS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

Where are my screenshots and recordings?

Screenshots go to PicturesPointerStick (and your clipboard). Recordings go to VideosPointerStick as MP4 files. Edited exports are saved next to the original.

My recording has no sound

System audio is on by default and the microphone is off. Check the audio toggles on the recording pill or in the Locker before you start, and make sure the right microphone is selected in Windows sound settings.

The pointer doesn't appear in my Zoom/Teams/OBS share

Share or capture your entire screen (display capture), not a single window. Window capture only includes that app's window, and PointerStick draws above it in its own overlay.

I lost my license key

Use the Find my license page with the email you used at checkout and we'll email it to you, or search your inbox for "Your PointerStick Premium key".

The pointer is too big or too small

Change the size slider in the Locker. Each monitor is handled at its own DPI, so it looks the same size everywhere.

Sound effects: the Glass Tap, Boop, Bubble Pop and Coin click sounds and the app's shutter and record sounds are from Kenney's Interface Sounds (CC0). Thank you, Kenney.
